Mug is an organic bakery and café nestled amongst the rugged landscape of Kangaroo Island. The owners pay homage to the site’s country roots with their ingredients and down-to-earth values, offering fresh-baked bread, pastries and organic coffee blends using local and sustainable produce.
The visual identity captures the essence of the surrounding landscape, celebrating locality and reflecting an authentic love of food, nature and warmth.

Topographic mapping is utilised throughout the brand identity, inspired by the diverse landscape of Kangaroo Island and the resemblance to the linear forms of a traditional baker’s brotform.
The extraction of different areas of the map communicates the location of locally sourced ingredients within the bakery’s produce. The organic line work of these abstracted elements is also reflected in the free-form structure of the wordmark.
The vibrant palette reflects the colours of nature on the island, specifically the ‘remarkable rocks,’ to create a strong, playful personality.
